An accredited laboratory
Your sample is analysed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory working to ISO 15189, the international standard for medical laboratories. Results come back with the laboratory's own units and reference ranges.
Why us
privatetests puts a doctor between the laboratory and you, shows each result exactly as the laboratory reported it, and tells you before you pay what a test cannot do.
Your sample is analysed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory working to ISO 15189, the international standard for medical laboratories. Results come back with the laboratory's own units and reference ranges.
A GMC-registered doctor reviews every report, checks and edits the explanation of what the results mean together, and signs it before it is released. There is no option to receive results without a doctor reading them first, and every report shows the signing doctor's name and GMC number.
The displayed single-test total includes the test, doctor's review and the applicable collection charge: £5.99 postage for a home kit or £55.00 for a clinic appointment. Each applicable collection charge is applied once per order, not once per test. Your basket shows the breakdown and final total before payment. No subscription or membership.
Every result is shown with the unit and reference range exactly as the laboratory sent it. We do not convert units, apply our own narrower ranges, or tell you a result the laboratory reported as normal is secretly too low or too high. If a marker is outside its range the report says so plainly, and explains what usually happens next.
Results are released only to your secure portal, never by email or text. Your data is stored in the UK, shared only with the people needed to carry out your test or where the law requires it, and every access to a patient record is logged. You can download your signed report and take it to your own GP whenever you choose.
Every product page says who the test is for, who it is not for, and what it can and cannot tell you, before you complete checkout rather than in the small print. A blood test is one part of a picture; we say so, and we point you to your GP or NHS 111 when that is the right next step.
What we do not do
Some of these are regulation. Most are simply what we would want from a service we used ourselves. They are written down so you can hold us to them.
No. It is a way to get accurate laboratory results, read by a doctor, without a referral or a wait. The report is written so your own GP can act on it, and it tells you when a symptom needs a GP or NHS 111 rather than a test.
GMC-registered doctors practising in the UK, working to written clinical protocols signed off by our clinical safety officer. Every report carries the reviewing doctor's name and GMC number so you can check the register.
We name our laboratory in clinical correspondence rather than in marketing. What matters for your result is the accreditation: UKAS, to ISO 15189.
Email support@privatetests.co.uk with your order reference and a doctor will reply. If you want a second opinion, the signed report is yours to take anywhere.
Stored in the UK, encrypted, and accessed only by the people involved in your care, with every access logged. We never sell data or use it for advertising.
Over 100 tests, each explained before you buy.
